Like in the show Cheers, a place where everyone knows your name, or at least your face! A neighborhood go to place in Highland Park, where any day of the week you will run into someone you know or who knows you, in the North Shore. The Burgers are the best, and the drinks are long pour. The entrees are very good too, I like the pot pie. Babes like the French onion soup. The entree salads are great. On Saturday nights, you will most always find a great local band playing, starting at 9:30. Nortons, our go to place.

Food okay service ok Sat 4 of out back in a fly infested courtyard. Worst experience. Then the owner offers a gift card My friends would be fools to ever enter the garbage pit again.

Based on outer appearance I was expecting bar food. This was not quite the case as I ended up with a delicious plate of oven roasted chicken, a baked sweet potato and steamed vegetables. Classy bar food. The chicken was moist, the sweet potato was cooked to fluffy perfection, the vegetables maintained their crisp, and I was a happy diner. Not only did the food taste great, but the portions were impressive. I ate to my tummy's content and still had an ample amount of food left. The staff was welcoming and grateful for the business, while also ready at every request and efficient without making us feel rushed. I hope to be back soon for that same plate of tasty comfort food.

I've been here twice now, and every time the service has been very friendly and attentive. They have a cute little outdoor area that's very dog friendly-they even brought out a bowl with water for my pup! My bf and I ordered a regular burger and the Ruben. The burger was juicy and tasted homemade. The Ruben was equally good with warm corned beef piled high. Their salads also look pretty flame! I really enjoy this place. It's also well priced, filling portions! Seems like the local spot to go to meet up with someone and grab a very drinks.

The absolute BEST Greek salad I've had!! The hamburgers were really good too. Found this little gem through my trusty Yelp, definitely will go back should I get back to the area!

Ok, this is the type of bar and restaurant I enjoy. The staff immediately greets you when you walk in the door. I honestly think it was the owner of the bar, but he was extremely pleasant in his welcome. I sat at the bar to eat and what was neat is they asked for my name and every bartender called me by my name when asking if I needed anything. Charlie and Ray are the bartenders. They are awesome! I could tell this is a popular local bar as they knew everyone by name when they came in the door. Now for the food. I was skeptical since it was a "bar", but it has a great menu to choose from. I chose the blackened salmon sandwich. Omg, the filet was huge and cooked perfectly. Great taste and the entire dish was wonderful. I will be back!

It's a wonderful place to eat!! The owner was so accommodating to our group of 9 from work. Came in for lunch, after our office moved to Highland Park form Lake Forest. We were sat immediately, which with a group of 9, we were kind of surprised! The food was delicious, might have been a little high in price, but it was definitely tasty! We were surprised when the owner sent over two desserts..."on the house". They were amazing as well! We will definitely visit Norton's again!

Great experience! The food was very good, and the service was good and friendly, and they offered us free dessert because it was our first time. On our first night in Chicagoland it was the perfect local spot to dine.

There aren't many times I've had a good Greek salad ,but this one at Norton's was very good ,my grandson had the Norton burger and found it very good as well.the prices were on the high side but friendly staff and good food ....

Great service, Good food, some wonderful staff! My only complaint would be the size of the place! It is quite small, It gets so crowded at times, that it gets to be standing room only and I constantly feel like I'm in the way of another patron or the hard-working staff. However, my family lives very close by and this place has almost become that second kitchen: you go to when not up for making dinner or just want to grab a few drinks then head back home. The owners and staff are wonderful to my family and my daughter and always go out of the way to make us feel at home! We especially enjoy the live music and outdoor seating during warm weather!

The food was good, service was good, everything was just good. Nothing was spectacular that would make me want to run back there. I got the Norton salad with salmon on top. The salmon was farm raised and not a high quality fish. But it was a large portion for a decent price. The other people I went with got a turkey sandwich which was freshly made high quality turkey and a portobello burger which was tasty. Overall the service was good, got free popcorn and the food was good. If it was higher quality with smaller portions I would give them 5 stars Suggestion - higher quality fish, better lettuce as all the lettuce was iceberg and romaine. Add some chard, spinach and baby kale and you will get 5 stars.

Went for a Tuesday lunch with my parents and grandpa because the place had good reviews. We got two Norton burgers, an Asian chicken salad, and a gazpacho (soup of the day). The burgers were ok but not great - very greasy. The salad had vermicelli, which in Asian cuisine usually means bean threads and so we assumed for the Asian salad that's what it would be. However when the salad arrived it had normal angel hair pasta, which wouldn't have been much of an issue except my mom is gluten-free. The gazpacho tasted like ketchup soup - I think they used canned tomato purée and just threw some diced veges on top. While nothing was bad, nothing was good either. Ok, my ketchup soup masquerading as gazpacho was bad. Overall, thoroughly disappointing.

The food was hit or miss. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip which was amazing! But when it came we asked for more bread and the waiter came back to take our order but never brought us more bread for the dip. I had the turkey sandwich which was nothing special. It didn't taste bad but, it didn't taste great either. Very simple.. I added on sweet potato fries which were tasty. During this whole meal it was hard to get out waiters attention. Only the busy boys came by to check on us. Our waiter wasn't even working. I don't know what he was doing. Finally we had to ask one of the busy boys for our check and I asked him to split the check twice, I asked him twice and he nodded 'yes'. So the waiter comes by and hands us the check which isn't split. He says we needed to ask him before he printed the check. What a load of crap.

I am really sad that I am unable to write a rave review for Norton's. Unfortunately I think that they have started to slip over the past few years. In the past I would crave their burgers and stop by knowing that I was going to indulge in the most wonderful, juicy, perfectly made American treat. Now it is hit or miss. Even the once dependable burger is no longer so. On one recent visit my mother-in-law ordered a burger medium rare but it came out well done. Certainly a disappointment after I touted Norton's as having the best burger on the North Shore. Just the other night my husband and I were dining there and my portobello sandwich arrived cold and the bun on my husband's burger was rock hard. On top of that, the usual friendly service was gone. Our waiter barely paid us any attention (another waiter actually had to take care of check for us) though he did seem to have plenty of time to chat up one table.

Excellent food and service! A+ all the way!! We had the onion rings as a starter and they were awesome with a great dipping sauce! The sandwiches were outstanding too - we had the veggie and salmon sandwich - both had lots of flavor. The service was just as great as the food. The guy at the bar kept checking in with us - he was a doll!

I went to Norton's for lunch today thanks to my bud Angela S. hooking Phill C. up with a gift certificate after the Yelp scavenger hunt. That's all the name dropping I'm doing, promise. Free parking outside & it was plentiful. Upon walking in, we found a big ol' bar and sat ourselves down at one of the dining room tables. It was quite busy around 4pm was our first surprise of the lunch. We looked over the menu and there were quite a lot of choices that looked appealing. I settled on a Sheridan burger which was cooked perfectly at a juicy medium with mushrooms and swiss cheese on it. Second surprise of lunch was we loved the food! We didn't expect much for this neighborhood bar/restaurant but it ended up having just fantastic food. My burger was $12 and I then substituted the fries for Macaroni and cheese for $1.50. The mac & cheese was thick & creamy with classic elbow noodles and a crusted cheese on top. Loved it. I usually can't finish this much food in one restaurant sitting....I don't know if I was ravaneous or it was just 'that' good that I scarfed it all down to the point of making my belly ouchie! Our server wasn't overly friendly but he got the job done just fine. I kind of regret not sitting at the bar because the bartender seemed like quite the jolly bloke. I'd absolutely go back to Norton's. Thanks, Angela for introducing us to it! As we were leaving our late lunch, we saw a band going in! Cool!

I went here for lunch and was surprised at how crowded it was! I had the Norton's Burger and it was excellent. Very good food, fun atmosphere, friendly service. I would definitely go back for more burgers! It also came with a side of cole slaw that was very good, not to heavy on the sauce. The prices are a bit high, burgers are $11-$14.

Norton's is a local institution. So if you're expecting to just pop in and be seated immediately, you'll be disappointed. There's usually a wait -- even a short one. People in the neighborhood just love their Norton's. It actually reminded me of the bars in Milwaukee. They offered us popcorn to munch on before dinner and they had hard ciders -- a place after my own heart! I had the burger which was hearty and good. Didn't take me to heaven but left me very satisfied and happy. Norton's really is designed to be your local neighborhood place and it certainly fits the bill. Try it out. It could become your new family hangout.

Good atmosphere and good food. I come her often with my family. I recommend the club sandwich or any burger

Ofcourse the food is pricey but its worth it. I tried their veggie burger, it was too big, fries were really good. I will definitely recommend Norton's.

Well I can't give Norton's a fair shake on my first time here a couple nights ago. I went with a buddy who is a regular and lives a stone's throw away from Nortons. We walked in through the back of the restaurant around 7 and it was a packed house on a Tuesday night. I get it, this place is very popular and draws a much older crowd than I would have expected. We were able to find a small table outside and sat down. It took our waiter about 20 minutes to finally come over and acknowledge us, at which point he was extremely short in basically just asking us what we wanted to drink...no apology for the wait, no kindness or sincerity in his voice at all. So, the waiter leaves and my immediate question to my buddy is, "What's up with that guy?" and my friend replies, "yeah I don't think he likes me very much". Well my immediate response is, "I don't care if he likes you or me or blue colored cotton candy as opposed to pink....we aren't here to impress this guy, he is here to impress us with good service and accurate knowledge of the menu items." I can speak from experience...I was a waiter and bartender at J. Alexanders in both Northbrook and Chicago for about 5 years total, so I have dealt with ALL sorts of customers. I undoubtedly had to wait on regulars who were rude every time, who tipped like crap every time and people with whom I would like nothing to do with outside of providing them with a pleasurable dinner experience in exchange for being able to pay my bills and afford a meal myself. This server was one of the rudest and most impolite people I've ever had wait on me before. I am never picky, I'm always decisive in ordering. I ALWAYS tip at least 20% because I came from this industry and I know what it's like. But there wasn't a thing I could sympathize with in how our server treated us both in the long wait to order and reorder drinks to the off putting body language he showed in wanting nothing to do with us. But hey, on a side note the Stella out of the draft was cold and tasty, and my Sante Fe BBQ chicken salad was loaded with jicama, cilantro and corn...some crispy tasty ingredients you normally don't find at most bars like Norton's. Such a shame on the service though. Sometimes a long standing restaurant can tend to allow it's staff to run the roost after being there for many years. I can only hope this isn't the case at Norton's, because the atmosphere is cozy and the food was definitely good. I will be back here for a burger/sandwich/entree in the near future and hope to update my review more positively.

Friendly! I went to Norton's for the first time with my twins. As we walked in we were greeted warmly. The owner asked me before bringing over the free popcorn. How thoughtful. The kids loved the popcorn! The owner and staff are very accommodating and the place in a nice mix of family, bar guests and older customers. It has a nice neighborhood feeling. In this day and age its nice to be greeted by someone who has a smile on their face. Food has nice portions and served fast. The waiter even asked me quietly if it was ok for the kids to have the included ice cream for their kids meal. We would absolutely eat here again.

If you are looking for consistently good, homey food and a "Cheers" like atmosphere - where "everyone knows your name", Norton's is the place for you. The drink pours are generous too. Great neighborhood restaurant.

It is a lively and fun place. Love the burgers and the salmon sandwich. The French onion soup, chicken pot pie and fried chicken have all been great. Friendliest place in town.

Norton's is the neighborhood bar and grill. The food is great and I would recommend trying the French Onion soup. They also get a some really good bands and when they play its not to loud like at other bars. This is a place to come to if you like standard good American bar food. Very family friendly.

Great food. This place is popular and people come back so get there early or expect a wait. It worth it though. Well run and a very comfortable place.

Moved recently to HP, living a block away from Nortons. We walk by it almost every night. Tonight (Sunday) we decided to come in for dinner. We found a table outside among a few available tables. Our waiter, kept bringing popcorn to our table, as our seven year old was very hungry and was getting irritable. We spent an hour waiting for food and after seeing diners who arrived 30min after we did receiving their food, we simply stood up and left. Very similar situation happen in the past - I will not be coming back

Wow and WOW! I was not expecting anything like what I experienced at Norton's! Went to Norton's with a friend for dinner before a Ravinia concert (a little after 5 on a Wednesday), and we were seated right away. My friend is a regular so the staff and management knew him and stopped by frequently. We had our drink orders taken right away (Angry Orchard for me) and we ordered our appetizer, the shrimp cocktail. Now, I love really really zesty cocktail sauce, so when I asked the server if the sauce was zesty, he said he would ask the chef what he would do. The cocktail came out and accompanying the sauce was another container of straight grated horseradish, so that I can spice up my cocktail sauce. WIN! Nearly burned my nose off! Main course was hamburgers - a Winks with grilled onions added and tater tots ($1 upgrade) for me and a BBQ burger with fries for my friend. My burger was cooked perfectly to medium, and the flavor was different - I have never had green peppers and onions mixed into a hamburger before, but the combination was totally great! Everything was hot and fresh, the beer/cider crisp and cool, and the staff was on point with their service. By the time we left, there were a few parties waiting, but the management was passing out baskets of popcorn for them! Very nice touch! Overall, I had a great experience and though it was a little more expensive than expected ($63 before tip), I definitely will be hitting up Norton's again when I'm in the area! Hopefully, I stay for some dessert next time!

Stopped in for the music. Very disappointing and downright strange place. To start, the service was atrocious. We waited 15 minutes to sit. There were tables recently vacated, but nobody seemed in a rush to clean them off as we waited. The wait staff was average at best. No smile, no urgency. The food? Not very good. We ordered the artichoke dip which was very disappointing. I can say that the cocktails were good, although overpriced. I don't think I'll be coming back here. There are better options in the area.

This place is so over-priced and a total rip-off. This is only the second time ever, that a lunch bill for my boyfriend and I was $50.00. No appetizers or drinks (only water), just our 2 entrees, one being a burger and the other some tilapia fish...which were both terrible...completely bland everything. If I'm going to pay $23 for tilapia, it better be the best damn tilapia I've ever had. No excuse....I could buy an entire bag of tilapia for cheaper, and I've had tilapia at many restaurants and I've never paid anywhere near that amount.. Also, for as long as it took to cook, you would've thought that it would've been great....but there was no thought, skill or preparation that went into i...it was evident as soon as I took the first bite. My bf and I were disappointed while looking at the menus, because we knew it was way over-priced, but we were hungry, so we thought we'd give it a try. My bf always gets a burger at those kinds of American restaurants/bars, so he has had thousands of burgers in his day and this is one of, if not, the most expensive burgers he has ever had. This place has a terrible value, terrible food and terrible prices. The only good thing out of it, was that our waiter was great. I don't know his name, but he was very pleasant and always had a huge smile on his face...unfortunately, the owner probably pockets most of the money and the servers probably see a measly fraction of the profits. The owner was definitely very friendly and personable, so hopefully he treats his staff well, because it's evident how hard they work and I always appreciate someone that works for their tip and not just expect it. I could've gone to one of my beloved, favorite restaurants twice for the same amount we spent at Norton's and with leftovers. Needless to say, we left Norton's completely dissatisfied and disappointed. The only thing that made me regret our choice a little less, was the fact that, at least we got to give a great waiter a good tip, for his great service. Lastly, this place feels very small and cramped....so, unless you like dining on top of people and hearing every bit of other people's conversations....and them being able to hear yours, then stay away. There are much better places in the area, with much more reasonable prices.

Norton's is on the list of places by BF's family frequents semi-regularly. We ventured in one night for dinner, and none of us were disappointed. They have a plethora of burger selections, truly something for everyone. I stuck with the burger, as I was told "they're REALLY GOOD!" and it was true. I enjoyed my burger with cheddar and a slice of raw onion. The service was outstanding, prompt and friendly. They do have a decent size patio area for seating, but a large storm was rolling in as we got there, and didn't want to chance it.

Holy crap - best burger I've had in months. Bar none. Service and staff are simply amazing. Owner manager guy was all over this place greeting tons of locals. Felt like I was in a place that's been here for 30 years. - In a good way.

I've been to Norton's dozens of times due to the fact that I live nearby and and there are not a lot of similar places in Highland Park. If I go it's because someone else has chosen and I don't want to be impolite. Owner seems friendly enough. But the food is generally mediocre at best. I want to like it but I just can't give it a good rating due to the fact that I just don't enjoy what I end up eating there. Soup is obviously canned. Fries are flavourless. Iced tea is basically coloured water. Oh, well. Ok, I've edited this review after giving Norton's one last chance (at the urging of my kids). And it took 40 minutes to get our food despite the place not bing particularly busy. The owner sorta shrugged as a way of apologizing. Whatever. One star now.

  • Brad S.

From the free popcorn to the amazing burgers this local favorite stands up to the test of time in a hyper critical and finicky population. The stake sandwich is an absolute winner and the salads are otherworldly. Don't come here if you want a quite meal. This place is an absolute winner.

Norton's is probably a fine neighborhood spot, but BEWARE if you are not from the neighborhood. On a recent busy night, several parties were seated before us, clearly because they knew the host. A bummer experience

I'm always excited when my parents suggest we go to Norton's! My boyfriend and I came here the other day, revisiting the location of our first date. We both got the veggie burger, with grilled onions, and agreed that they were really tasty, and very hearty. I couldn't finish the sweet potato I ordered as my side, which was perfectly baked. It's true that it's a little overpriced for what it is (over $2 for soft drinks is a little unreasonable, even with free refills), and I think it feels like home to a very specific clientele: the HP lifers, local moms and dads especially. Those are the people who are welcomed most graciously immediately when they come in, and maybe even recognize some faces on the walls. My boyfriend and I didn't even get the popcorn starter when we went! Still, for good grill food, it's a solid choice-- probably the best in Highland Park-- you just have to be ready to pay a little for it.

  • Jack A.

If you're a regular and you go there a lot, keep going. If you're an outsider, don't bother. You won't get seated and the service is lackluster. It shouldn't be this much trouble for a hamburger.

Located in downtown Highwood. Really small and tight, especially when a band is playing...which id often. Drinks are way too expensive. $11 house vodka? $7 beer. Go to Toad's down the street for drinks.

Great place. Still full after lunchtime. Great burger both types of fries are really good. They also serve a quality drink. 5 stars I wish they were in my neighborhood.

3.5 stars this is a typical american style restaurant that carries burger and other various plates. we had 2 burgers and a fish dish with a nacho appetizer. They were good, but not spectacular. We ended up paying 80 something bucks with sodas but no beers, so the price is ok, but not cheap.

Came here with wife and 4 kids and had a really good experience. Had to wait about 10 mins for a table, but the owner quickly offered the kids free popcorn and coloring pages, which made the wait a breeze. While waiting I decided to have a beer, and when I asked what style a certain tap beer was, he offered me a free sample. Not necessary, as I would have known had he just said "IPA", but nice touch nonetheless. The place is not super cheap, but the $8 kids meals come with drinks and ice cream. Food was good, atmosphere was friendly. Will definitely be back.

Norton's is a stalwart, American food establishment in the HP. The restaurant's physical area runs on the small side for bar-and-grills, but this characteristic enhances Norton's friendly, casual nature. I noticed that a good percentage of patrons seemed to be regulars -- and not the seedy, toothless, drunk kind, mind you. Having a lot of return customers is a good thing and it was soon clear why people keep coming back. Norton servers were very attentive and the food was good quality. The menu seemed to have a large variety of items. I settled on a Turkey Burger which was tasty. Norton's would be a great place to watch a game too, because it's covered with high-definition TV's. It's a great local haunt that I would definitely frequent if I lived in the Highland Park area.

Norton's is our Cheers. We get no arguing from anyone about coming here, they either know us or pretend to know us well, the food is consistent, and my daughter and I would be lost without our split Wedge Salad and split Ruben sandwich-which they kindly split and put on separate plates EVERY time without us asking. I have never had anything I don't like-and just really like the down home atmosphere.

Fun little local place to go to for a drink. The owners are all so nice and so fun! Food could be better and the beer selection could be wider, though the wine selection is nice. If you go on a big game day, you'll have a blast! Bottom line: great place if you want a burger and something simple. We go back again and again, because it is the "local watering hole" and and easy go to on a weekend afternoon.

Family owned an operated, Norton's has a friendly vibe and is DELICIOUS! Great menu with something for everyone using really high quality ingredients. Try: Winks Burger, Tilapia, Turkey Burger, Ribs, Salads. Live music on Saturday evenings and a fantastic bar (with a HUGE pour). Yum!!!

Use to really like this place, not that the food was so great, but just a unique place for the area. But after a particular experience I can no longer go. The 4 of us ordered. First time they brought my order it came with an ingredient i specifically said to leave off (allergic). When they brought it a second time there was hair in my food!!! That was enough for me I was no longer hungry. In the meantime I had to sit there and watch my friends eat without me. The owner came over and said there was no charge for my meal... Gosh thanks. I didn't actually get one.

Norton's is probably the overall best place in Highland Park. Great burger! Great portions! Best of all the guys that run the place are top notch! They are friendly, funny and fair. They make you feel welcome to be there and you could not ask for a better experience.

Unless you are a regular be prepared to be treated badly. Food is ok but not worth the aggravation. Owner plays favorites and is unapologetic when he seats friends before people waiting, or bum rushes you to pay your check when he turns over from lunch to dinner even though you're still eating your lunch -if you want another drink order it now so we can close out your check. Bye bye.....another good customer, not a regular though, lost.

If you're wondering where your neighbors are tonight, they're probably at Norton's. What a wonderful gathering place, and for every combination of people - surrounding our table on this Tuesday night were: a dad and his 3 young boys, a grandfather and grandson, a woman sitting alone, a table of women, and a host of people bellied up to the bar, chatting with the owner. Even on my first visit, I was treated like a longstanding customer, which took the edge off of the chilly weather from the moment that we walked in. I had one of their famous burgers - the one with onions and green pepper diced in it, with melted cheese on brown bread. I loved that you could order a baked sweet potato or sweet potato fries as an option (as well as a regular baked potato or fries). The coleslaw was creamy and good, and the burger had that wonderful flame-grilled smell and flavor that I love. The place has a great energy to it, with tables bursting into laughter and the owners and staff fully involved with serving people, pouring drinks, or sitting down for a chat. Whether you are a Highland Park resident or a visitor to the area, Norton's is a great place to have a well-made meal and feel a sense of home.

I work right across the street from Nortons and absolutely love this place. Everything I've ever tried here was fresh, delicious and memorable! I've gotten the blt, the turkey club, the sweet potato fries, the cheese and spinach quesadillas and everything has been yummy. The prices are a little high in my opinion, but for Highland Park, I think they are considered average. The service has also always been up to my standards and my friends and I always love sitting here during lunch in the summer time. Highland Park in general offers a lot of yummy lunch places, but for a more classy lunch, I would definitely come here! :)

A big waste of time. Called Nortons and was told no wait, drove over , a 10 minute trip, and put on the list for over an hour wait. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Finally left disappointed, will not be back for a while, too many other places who do know how to keep things organized.

Love this local restaurant/bar. The owners are great, food is always good and they have lots of great music there, too. Went there last Saturday night when they had a great band Evil Wayz playing -- night was a blast and the place was PACKED!

Only downside is it gets so packed sometimes, but that is due to its insanely loyal customer base. The food is very good, though there are some hit or miss dishes. However, they have the best environment and from management to employees, you are welcomed by all and they generally have personal relationships with their recurring customers. Great environment, great food, long wait...

Went there last night for the first time after looking for a recommendation on Yelp. As we walked in the door the owner waved at us. The bar was full and the dining area was almost packed so we got a table as soon as we walked in. We hit it just right because a line started forming soon after we sat down. There are lots of pictures on the walls including one with the 3 Stooges meeting Joe Lewis the former heavyweight boxing champ. Any place that has the Stooges hanging on the wall has to be good. The service was very good and the nice selection of bottled and tap beer was cold. The burgers were good not great. I had one on black bread with grilled onions ($10) and a baked potato for an extra buck and my wife had a Sheridan burger with fries, I think it was mushroom and Swiss. ($12) I liked that they served the coleslaw in a nice little dish instead of the plastic crap many restaurants use these days. Also the tomato and pickle looked to be freshly cut, not limp with the edges curling over, nice touch! The rest of the menu was a little pricey, $19 for Italian sausage and peppers with pasta is pricey, but had a good selection of salads and daily specials. The owner came over to the table twice to make small talk and thanked us for coming when we left. I liked the atmosphere. The place was clean and I will go back to try the rest of the menu.

I was pleasantly surprised after eating at this spot, as from the outside I didn't expect much. However, I'd heard from a few people that its got good food and has been around for some time, so who am I to judge. We started with the Guacamole and Chips, which was actually damn good. They obviously make their own chips, and they were better than most of the mexican restaurants that serve "chips" in Chicago. I had the burger, which again, I wasn't expecting much. But boy was I wrong. The patty itself was huge, larger than the bun. And the bun was amazing, super fresh and tasty. The fries were decent, but after devouring the burger I barely had room to finish them. Great place, look forward to coming back soon...

While on a short trip to Chicagoland we ended up visiting a business in Highland Park and asked where we could have some lunch and was told to go to Norton's. It was an awkward time (about 2:30pm on a Thursday) to get a meal and there weren't a lot of choices open. Fortunately, we took the advice given. The owner was behind the bar and was quick to welcome us and give us popcorn and samples of beer. I had the Greek salad with anchovies and my better half had the chicken quesadilla appetizer. Salad was enormous and very tasty. It was LOADED with feta (no skimping here) but it wasn't very salty so it didn't overwhelm the rest. The quesadilla was high quality bar fare. Local beers on tap is always a plus in my book, especially when the taps are clean. Quality of food more than makes up for slightly higher prices than I might have expected, but it is a ritzy suburb after all. Owner makes the place a real neighborhood gem...will definitely return next time we're in town.

Comfortable place to meet friends. Always good, wholesome food that is presented in an appealing manner. Drinks are a plus to enjoy a something with a meal. Our family loves Norton's.

If you are looking for a great Saturday night dinner out look no further than Norton's restaurant in Highland Park. This place has really great American food. Some of my favorite items on the menu are the hamburgers particularly the spicy turkey burger. In addition, I also will occasionally order the Santa Fe Barbeque Chicken Salad as my main entree. This is a huge salad that will fill you up for dinner. Besides the food, I feel that Norton's has a great vibe. As you walk in, the owners are always there to great you and the restaurant has a decent amount of tables. You really feel like you finally get to relax after a long hard week. The only major tip of advice that I have is that during Friday and Saturday nights make sure you come early to eat dinner, because Norton's can get pretty crowded. If you are in Highland Park this is one restaurant you won't want to miss out on!

This place looked more like a bar inside than a restaurant which it really is a bar if you ask me. But it seemed OK to me overall. I just had the cobb salad which was pretty darn good. Prices seemed a little high. I'd have to go back again to be fair but the others I had lunch with seemed to like their sandwiches.

After a bad experience at Bluegrass in HP we took a late night chance at Norton's! It was awesome and we are going back. I had a burger which was very fresh and NOT salty (important to me!). The fries still had some of their skin on (yum!). Norton was there and he was a great host offering us lots of tequila shooters, desert, and everything but the kitchen sink. This is a nice neighborhood place owned by some people that are doing it the old fashioned way - fresh, happy, fun, and welcoming.

This is truly a bar "where everybody knows your name..." What a cozy personable place! Amidst the high class boutiques and the patrons who adorn themselves with one brand name atop another, you find Norton's tucked around the corner. The service is supreme - even if you don't know them, they treat you like they've known you for a lifetime. The burgers are yummy and flavorful. It can sometimes be a bit of a wait for the food, but the staff is so friendly, you barely notice it. The prices are fair; the food good; service and ambiance above and beyond.

I like the selection of beers and variety of good salads on the menu. There is a full bar and table seating. "Norton" related art on the walls with photos many local friends.

Regulars get hugs from the owners when they arrive. The line is long, but everyone seems to know the score...and is in a good mood. I ate at Norton's last night with some friends. They set us up within half an hour of arriving, and knew how to take care of the 2-year-old with us (crayons, to start). I had the French onion soup -- it was as good as any I've every had. I followed that with the daily special, which was fried catfish. The great thing is that it was lightly fried...and super tasty. I washed all that down with a draft Blue Moon. I'm not from the area, but if I get back to HP, I'll definitely drop in at Norton's. I love that feel of a place where people know you. Excellent. Side note: Celebrity sighting -- Rick Telander, sports writer for the Trib.

Norton's combines great food with personal service. My family eats at this restaurant probably once every two months, yet the staff still remember our names and are always very friendly. One of the small touches that I really like is that they give you complimentary pop corn while you are waiting for your table. Which brings me to my next point... Norton's does not accept reservations, which means you can end up waiting for well over an hour to get seated. However, considering that every Friday night you can find a long line of people standing by the door, the wait is well worth it.

This is a nice local neighborhood place with solid, value-oriented comfort food served by somewhat enthusiastic servers. The place isn't that large and includes a bar area that bleeds into the serving area. The food is basic (but well prepared and very enjoyable) North suburban hamburgers, salads, sandwiches and some other entrees (sort of like bar food on steroids). We went for dinner on a recent weekend evening. The place was crowded when we arrived, but the wait for a table was relatively short. Small wine list but lots of beer choices. We had been here before for live entertainment (they have bands later in the evenings on some evenings). We would go again.

Went to Norton's for the first time last night with Team Fiur. It was crowded and noisy (in a bustling, lively way). They were very friendly and accommodating. They seated us in the time promised and the host checked on us frequently. Turns out he lives around the corner from us. The burger was great and if I could have eaten all the crispy, slender onion rings, I would have. It's relatively small and definitely a neighborhood joint with a lot of sports memorabilia on the walls, reminding the family hour diners that this is a bar, too. They have live music, but I don't know much about it. We will certainly be back with and without the kids.

Great bar with a well-rounded menu and a helpful staff. I had the caesar salad with chicken today, and it was excellent. They had an excellent selection of quality sports on, a must, within a small but comfortable space. Clean with quick service, Norton's is always high on my list for a quick nosh.

The "Cheers" of Highland Park with great food too. Small menu, but its all good. Great pies also. Sometimes live music on the weekends. Parking is sometimes tough and the wait for a table is insane, but its such a nice place to eat, whaddya gonna do?
